PZEV Focus

Under the hood of the Ford Focus PZEV is an engine carefully designed to meet the latest super-ultra-low emissions standards. That's why it can be designated PZEV or, rather, Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle. Every part in its 2.0L Duratec 20E engine (nearly 100 of them new) works together to virtually eliminate fuel evaporation. And yet it puts out 130 horsepower. Which means it moves. Quickly. So you have nothing to lose while the environment has everything to gain.

Ford Motor Company and other automakers are working on long-term research projects to someday make practical hydrogen-powered vehicles that will not produce any greenhouse emissions. In addition to the Escape Hybrid, PZEV Focus and Focus Diesel being produced today, Ford has developed a Focus hydrogen internal combustion engine (H2ICE), a hydrogen hybrid research vehicle (H²RV) and a Focus Fuel Cell Vehicle (FCV) that is operating in demonstration fleets in the U.S. and Canada. Ford is the only automaker with such a full-range of production vehicles and research efforts intended to move society to a hydrogen-powered future.

A Car That Keeps Naturalists Moving
Escape Hybrid

Escape Hybrid offers a truly no-compromise alternative to the traditional SUV. You won't have to sacrifice any of the power, room and capability that the regular Escape offers but you will get added benefits of fuel efficiency and cutting edge technology.

Thanks to its advanced full hybrid system that automatically switches between pure electric, pure gasoline, or combined operation to maximize efficiency and performance, Ford Escape Hybrid is able to achieve EPA mileage estimates of 36 city/31 hwy (front wheel drive). Couple that with the 15-gallon fuel tank and you're driving for a long time between fuel stops.

The Escape Hybrid delivers on all fronts -- fuel savings, acceleration performance comparable to a V-6.and exhaust emissions lower than nearly all other vehicles on the market.  Indeed, the Ford Escape Hybrid is as environmentally friendly as a vehicle that runs solely on electric power. That's because a battery-electric vehicle needs to be plugged in to be recharged, and that electricity must be generated by a power plant, creating some smog-forming emissions. The Escape Hybrid, on the other hand, never needs to be plugged in. Its battery is continually recharged by an ingenious system that reclaims energy when the brakes are applied.

Escape Hybrid is an extremely clean vehicle to operate, producing 97 percent less hydrocarbon and oxides of nitrogen emissions than vehicles that meet today's nationwide Tier I emissions standard. That's clean enough to qualify the 2005 Escape Hybrid for the stringent Advanced Technology Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (AT-PZEV) standards.

Ford Escape Hybrid was named North American Truck of the Year for 2005.  The award recognizes the most outstanding truck of the year based on factors including innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value for the dollar.

F-150 Production

The Ford F-150 is being built under the roof of Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant at the Rouge Center. But something equally exciting is happening on the roof. Growing on the roof are 10.4 acres of plants called sedum. Why? They help to prevent storm water runoff, improve air quality and insulate the building. We've also developed "Fumes-to-Fuel" technology, which uses paint fumes to power fuel cells, producing electricity. And these are just a few of the sustainable features at the Rouge - home of the next F-150.
